n00b Chronicles: Washing the Dishes
When we first moved into our apartment, we checked the amenities so we could report to management any necessary fixes. I told my roomies that we absolutely needed to make sure our garbage disposal was fixed. They looked at me and chuckled and said that we actually don’t have one and that not having a garbage disposal is typical for New York apartments.  Seriously? NO GARBAGE DISPOSAL? So...

ON A MISSION TO GET SOME ABS
So I bought a Groupon for Gold’s Gym in NYC on 50th and Broadway. It was $39 for a one-month membership and it comes with three personal training sessions! When I went in for the first time, I actually got another month for free since I went before a specific date. Although I totally feel like a juicehead for going to Gold’s Gym, I’m happy I got the deal.  I’ve had the...

Madison Square Garden: Knicks vs. Heat
I went to my first Knicks game last Thursday. The game was good, company was great but I need to have a few words with operations at Madison Square Garden (MSG - really?? MSG?).  First of all, the entry into MSG is so chaotic! There isn’t a clear queue and the ticket check-in area is unmarked. I was completely confused as to where to check in and I even lost a competition! Secondly, where...

n00b Chronicles: Getting Packages

n00b Chronicles: Going to Ikea
Going anywhere outside of your apartment (especially in the winter) takes a lot of careful planning. The right clothes, the right transportation, not too much in your purse, enough to carry coming home if going shopping…the list goes on. Of course I didn’t know this, so when my roomie brought up the idea of going to Ikea for some kitchenware, I quickly obliged, because well, hello?...

n00b CHRONICLES
I’m going to start chronicling all my rookie mistakes, and share some stories simply about living in NY. I already have a few good stories on deck, but I’ll start with an embarrassing moment since I’ll have a lot of these. n00b Chronicles - Snowboots: When did I ever need Snowboots when I lived in CA? Snowboarding, sledding, rigorous outdoor winter sports. Snowboots are...

HOME AWAY FROM HOME
It happened. I moved. I live in NYC. My amazing mom and two brothers came to New York with me on January 5th to help me move into my place and eventually ween me off of them as they left 1 by 1 to go back to California. I have to admit that the first week or so was extremely tough and I cried a ton. I talked to my mom a couple times a day, starting having doubts about my move and thought about my...
