Favorite (food) Things: August

For Favorite Things: August - I will be highlighting all the food I haven’t been able to write about but definitely deserves to be mentioned.

Mikey’s Burger - 134 Ludlow Street

Best late night food in the LES. I came here with my buddies Becca and James after a few Pickle Backs and got the Mikey’s - hot dog with corned beef hash, onion and mustard. I was so excited at the deliciousness that I brought a group of us back. And then I fell in love with…the chili cheddar fries. A MUST ORDER.

Xi’an Famous Foods - 81 St. Mark’s Place

I’ve been trying to hard to try this place and finally did with Alex! We ordered the Liang Pi Cold Noodles, Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger, and the Spicy & Tingly Beef Hand-Ripped Noodles in Soup. The noodles in soup were exceptionally tingly, but delicious! I definitely recommend the Lamb Burger…

Park Avenue Summer - 100 E 63rd Street

This restaurant changes by the season - the menu changes, but the name of the restaurant changes as well - Park Avenue (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). Being that we are in summer, the roomies and I had a date at Park Avenue Summer during restaurant week. I ordered the baby beets (duh), Dr. Pepper ribs (!!), and for dessert, I THINK I ordered the Goat Cheese Mousse in Phyllo with Honeyed Raspberries. The dessert was obviously mediocre.

Grom - 233 Bleeker Street

After a huge meal at Amy Ruths mentioned here, Kate and some new friends and I headed down to West Village for a going away party. I was not done and wanted to take my fullness to another level so I asked for ice cream. Kate mentioned Grom which is a gelateria whose only other location in the United States is Malibu - all other locations in Italy, one in Japan etc. I got the lemon and strawberry which ended up being quite the combo.

*Not pictured - Corner Bistro - 331 W 4th Street

I finally got to try Corner Bistro after hearing so much about it! Michael, Peter and I built up a good appetite after hitting the driving range and made it to the West Village for some delicious medium burgers and fries! I’m still trying to figure out which burger is best but Corner Bistro is definitely a fierce competitor!
